PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME (PSO)

  1. Students will be able to analyse the consequence of key principles of biochemistry in the living organisms at cellular and molecular level for supporting the life.
  2. Students will be able to design the experimental work, interpret the data and present their work through oral and visual presentation.
  3. Students will be able to focus on a scientific problem and to develop an original research proposal on it and also able produce substantial original research of significance and quality sufficient for publication and patent.
  4. Students will be able to develop skills for establish themselves in the field like pclinical and forensic research labs, agriculture, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

 

Eligibility:

Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board and Minimum 50% aggregate in Undergraduate degree with respective subjects from any recognised University in India or abroad

 

Duration: 2 Years

 

Career Avenues:

  1. Research and development: Research Scientist, Project assistant, Research fellow, Postdoctoral research fellow, Lab technician, Forensic expert, Bioinformatics expert.
  2. Product Manufacturing: Product development supervisor/ associate/technician, Manufacturing manager/supervisor/ technician, Environmental engineer/ technician, Quality Control (QC) Supervisor/ analyst/technician, Quality assurance (QA) Supervisor/ associate.
  3. Sales and service: Business development officer, technical service representative, sales executive and sales representatives
  4. Teaching/academics: A higher degree in the field of microbiology like Ph.D./M.Sc is desirable for a job in this sector. Those who have an aptitude for teaching are best suitable for this job. A teaching enthusiast can join as an assistant professor. A Fresher with a bachelor’s degree may get the job of a laboratory technician or lab instructor.

 

Apart from the above-mentioned sectors, there are many other scopes like clinical research, content writing and patent writing where a microbiologist can get the opportunity. The field of microbiology is highly dynamic and, in the future, many more avenues are expected to open up.
