Dr. Arpita Das has joined Adamas University as an assistant professor at School of Biotechnology in November, 2017. She has more than five years of research and teaching experience. Dr. Das has completed her PhD from Jadavpur University in 2014 under UGC Research Fellowship in Science for Meritorious student fellowship 2008-2009 . She has been awarded prestigious Erasmus Mundus Post Doctoral fellowship in 2015. Dr. Das has completed her graduation and post graduation in Microbiology from Calcutta University (Scottish Church College) and Bangalore University respectively. Prior to joining Adamas University, Dr. Das was associated with Jadavpur University, Dept of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Kolkata as visiting faculty and Swami Vivekananda Group of Institution (Dept. of Microbiology), Kolkata since 2016.

Her research interests encompass diverse topics in the fields of food microbiology and water microbiology viz. Functional food, Nutraceuticals, Microencapsulation of probiotic bacteria and its application in food technology, antioxidant, Synbiotics, Sweeteners, Waste water treatment. She has standardized several important biochemical assays and published several research papers and book chapters in international peer reviewed journals. Her current research focuses on the development of novel functional food from low cost resources with the motivation – Let food be the medicine, and medicine be the food .
