Equipped with over 15 years of cumulative experience delivering course instruction and executing research, Dr. Arindam Mitra is currently the Department in charge in the Department of Microbiology, School of Science at Adamas University. Dr. Mitra received B. Pharm and M.Tech in Biotechnology from Jadavpur University, West Bengal, India. Subsequently in 2008, he earned his Ph.D. from University of Maryland, College Park, USA. His doctoral work focused on identification of virulence attributes of a two-component regulatory system in Escherichia coli. His work identified the role of a transcriptional regulator, uvrY in mediating adhesion in avian and uropathogenic Escherichia coli. Subsequently, Dr. Mitra did his postdoctoral research work from the Arizona State University, Tempe, USA where he developed a poultry model to test live attenuated Salmonella vaccines and identified several vaccine candidates. Dr. Mitra is an accomplished research professional credited with numerous research publications in various peer-reviewed journals and teaching in international settings. Dr Mitra’s research interests are biofilms, bacterial pathogenesis and vaccine development. Dr. Mitra’s teaching responsibilities includes papers such as Introduction to Microbiology, Cell Biology and Genetic Engineering. Dr. Mitra was previously associated with School of Chemical and Biotechnology, SASTRA University, Tamil Nadu as Senior Assistant Professor. Dr. Mitra received numerous awards such as Indo Global Education Excellence Award in 2017, Distinguished Faculty Award at Venus International Faculty Awards in 2016, Academic Award for Vaccine Development at International Life Sciences Awards in 2016, Science Teaching Fellowship from American Society for Microbiology in 2016. Currently, Dr. Mitra is the Microbiology Society Champion from India. Dr. Mitra is reviewer for several international journals such as Food Research International, Vaccine, AS Microbiology and Recent Patents on Biotechnology. Dr. Mitra served as Academic coordinator for the School of Science at Adamas University in 2015-16.
