Department of Biotechnology fosters interdisciplinary knowledge of applied science and a dynamic academic environment to prepare students to address the most compelling biological challenges and various other pursuits, backed by intense knowledge, integrity, and deep understanding of research and innovation. The department also has modern infrastructure and scientific equipment to nourish both the academic and as well as research environment.  The primary objective of the department is to educate students with an up-to-date and modern course curriculum, a global outlook, and an active industry-academia collaboration. This will help our students to excel in their life with domain-specific knowledge and practical skill and also prepare them to be ready for any sort of work for the welfare of society with a focus on improving healthcare, medicine, agriculture, and the environment.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR & HEAD

DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

 

Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh is currently the Head of the Department (HoD) and Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology. He also serves as the Coordinator of the Adamas Biotechnology Club. Dr. Singh holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from CSIR-IICB, Kolkata. His academic journey includes an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from The University of Burdwan and a B.Sc. in Zoology (Honours) from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Jharkhand, where he earned accolades as a college topper. He completed 10+2 from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chittaranjan.

Dr. Singh’s research expertise spans a wide range of areas, including immunology, infectious diseases, host-pathogen interaction, natural product biology, bioethics, and environmental biology. He has an impressive record of mentoring achievements, including guiding winning teams in prestigious competitions such as the Smart India Hackathon 2023, Kickstart 3.0 at IIT Guwahati, and the YUKTI Innovation Challenge 2023. He is also in the process of launching a start-up, BIOAKSHAR Pvt. Ltd. At Incubation centre in Adamas University.

Dr. Singh has led several innovative research projects, including those funded by Adamas University and IIT Kharagpur Research Park Foundation, focusing on sustainable solutions like smart indoor gardening systems, smart toilet, and micro waste composters. His work has earned recognition, including the Best Poster Award at the 75th annual meeting of the Society of Biological Chemists (India) in 2006 and the Best Student Award during his undergraduate studies.

With over 20 publications to his name, Dr. Singh is an active contributor to academic research and frequently participates in national and international seminars and symposia. His dedication to education, research, and innovation highlights his significant contributions to the field of biotechnology.
