Department of Biotechnology fosters interdisciplinary knowledge of applied science and a dynamic academic environment to prepare students to address the most compelling biological challenges and various other pursuits, backed by intense knowledge, integrity, and deep understanding of research and innovation. The department also has modern infrastructure and scientific equipment to nourish both the academic and as well as research environment. The primary objective of the department is to educate students with an up-to-date and modern course curriculum, a global outlook, and an active industry-academia collaboration. Dr. Abinit Saha
HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT
Dr. Abinit Saha completed his Bachelor degree from Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur with Zoology (Hons.). He secured 2nd rank in B.Sc Zoology (Hons.) from University of Calcutta. He completed his Master degree in Zoology with specialization in Endocrinology from University of Calcutta. He was awarded Ph.D. degree in 2016 from University of Calcutta in Biotechnology. After getting his Ph.D. degree, Dr. Saha was awarded the prestigious Visiting Fellow in the NIH Visiting Program but declined and instead, he joined Adamas University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology in 2016 to continue his research work here.
His research interests span over several topics in Biochemistry and Biotechnology e.g., transcription biology; Prokaryotic Gene Regulation; Protein-nucleic acid interactions; cyclic AMP signalling in prokaryotes and Macromolecular crystallography.
He has published his doctoral work in reputed international journals and also presented his work in various national and international conferences.
Dr. Saha also worked as Project Associate from July 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014 to assist in writing the book entitled “The History of Science in India, Volume VIII, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Physics and Molecular Biology” under the guidance of Prof. N.C. Mondal and Prof. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, sponsored by the National Academy of Science, India, Allahabad, Govt. of India.
Dr. Saha received K.S.RAO Memorial Award and Teachers’ Council Award from Vivekanada College, Thakurpukur for securing highest marks in B. Sc. (Zoology Hons).
Dr. Abinit Saha also received a core research grant (CRG) from DST, India in January, 2022.
