Second year B.Sc. Microbiology students from the School of Life Science and Biotechnology visited Diamond Beverage Pvt. Ltd. (Coca-Cola) Taratala, Kolkata on February 29, 2020. The visit was arranged to provide industrial exposure to students on Food and Beverage production and Quality Control (QC). The visit broadened their insights on a skill enhancement course, Quality Control in Food and Pharma Industries along with practical experience in industrial set-up.
Diamond Beverage Pvt. Ltd is a well-known company producing almost all products of Coca-Cola in their factory and includes Maaza, Thums up, Coca-Cola, Sprite and many others along with production of Kinley, the packaged drinking and mineral water. In terms of capacity, it serves as one of the largest productions and bottling plant in Eastern India.
Students were shown the production area (storage, bottle blowing, mixing, filling, packaging, quality control, etc.) along with detailed description of each steps. The students also had an interactive session with the HR and QC executives of the organization regarding various processes of the organization. The visit also initiated further collaboration in terms of student internships and job opportunities for the students of Life Science and Biotechnology.
