The School of Life Science and Biotechnology in association with Dr. KPC Life Sciences (Kolkata) organized a three-day hands-on training program on gene expression analysis by real-time RT PCR (qPCR). The workshop from October 21-23, 2019 was held under the Biotech Story Telling on Advances Research (BT-STAR flagship training program of Dr. KPC Lifesciences. Based on the performance, BT-STAR program also offered students a chance to present in national level symposium, one-month internship and direct employment opportunities at Dr. KPC Lifesciences. More than hundred students across various streams in the school participated in the program. The program included individual hands on for students combined with theory classes for the concept and analysis of qPCR data. The program was highly interactive and provided an in-depth training session for the students. The program was very well received by the students which was reflected from the feed-back of student participants. Dr. Dibyajnan Chakraborty and his team from Dr. KPC Life Sciences, who were training the students during this program, were extremely pleased with the organization and interaction with the students. At the end of training an exam was conducted and six students were selected to receive certificate of excellence based on their performance in that exam. The selected students will be participating in a national level symposium to be held on November 13-14, 2019 at Dr.KPC Lifesciences campus.
The selected students are –
1. Nancy Jaiswal (B. Tech Biotechnology Semester III)
2. Sampurna Nandi (B. Tech Biotechnology Semester III)
3. Samanwita Mandal (M.Sc. Biochemistry Semester I)
4. Sanjay Sharma (B.Tech. Biotechnology Semester I)
5. Nitin Bhardwaj (B.Tech. Biotechnology Semester I)
6. Asmita Mukhopadhyay (B.Sc. Microbiology Semester III)
The School of Life Science and Biotechnology earnestly thank Dr. KPC Life Sciences for such a collaboration and is expected to host similar programs at regular intervals. The school is interested in extending the association with Dr. KPC Life sciences, with regards to student placement and research projects to strengthen activities at industry-academia interface.
