Dr. Saptarshi Chatterjee completed his Graduation (B.Sc) and Post-Graduation(M.Sc.) in Microbiology from Bangalore University. He pursued Ph.D at University of Kalyani. He worked on a DST Nanomission sponsored project aiming to detect cancer employing nanocomposite. His Ph.D topic was ‘Development of nanoparticle based process and sensing technique for biological application along with nano-toxicological evaluation’. Along with publications, he filed two Indian patent and also designed software to aid nano-sensing process that has been copyrighted. His Post-Doctoral studies were in the field of Chemical Biology at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata. During this tenure he worked on screening of Ruthenium and Platinum based complex for anticancer activities along with elucidation of molecular mechanism of synthesized anticancer agents. Dr. Chatterjee worked at Shree M & N Virani Science College (Autonomous), Rajkot for 2 years and were mostly involved in teaching UG and PG students apart from administrative responsibilities. He has supervised more than 10 M.Sc Dissertations at the college. He also worked as Resource person for GSBTM, Govt. of Gujarat

His research interest includes basic and applied microbiology including food and environmental microbiology. He is also keen in working in the field of nano-toxicology and medicinal chemistry. He has also recently started work on various public health aspects. Dr. Chatterjee also delivers motivational talk for students and is interested in student counseling.

Dr. Chatterjee welcomes potential collaborators for discussion and encourages students for dissertation/ summer training and research under his supervision.
